Who We Are

We are a UK-based charity working to eradicate poverty through education and personal development in the UK and West Africa. We want to transform the lives of children and young people by creating opportunities to help them develop their skills and achieve their potential to the fullest. As a charity inspired by the Christian faith, we believe that we are called to influence society and be change-makers in our culture.

Our projects encourage personal growth among young people, helping them find healthy ways to recognise and harness their strengths. Our programmes exist to promote and advance the mental, spiritual, moral and physical development of children and young people.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where all children and young people can grow and flourish under conditions that allows them to maximise their potential. We believe that to achieve this goal, the spiritual, physical and social needs of children must be met, and through our many services we seek to meet these needs so that children and young people can develop into well-rounded adults who can impact their world.

Supporting Children in Poverty

Through the work we do in Africa, we provide orphans, street children and young people in one parent homes or extended families an equal chance to education. This is achieved by providing them with education kits and an after school programmes to combat poor health and poverty, and increase access to formal and social education.

The education kits include uniforms, shoes, school bags, stationery, textbooks and study materials. The beneficiaries are provided with a hot school meal on school days which makes all the difference to their health, energy levels and nutrition.

Youth Development

Our aim is to empower young people with the training and skills needed to develop their full abilities so they can become responsible members of society, and so that their life conditions can be improved. We support both young girls and boys via our personal development, empowerment and leadership programmes, supporting young people tohelping them make a successful transition from childhood to adulthood.

The overall aim of the Girlz Empowered and Boyz Excel programmes is to help teenagers aged 11 to 17 years develop a healthy self-esteem and understanding of their own significance in the the world. This comprises of knowing their worth and loving themselves, body appreciation, personal development, setting goals, and identifying their gifts and talents. We will also cover how to deal with negative peer pressure and developing healthy relationships, and offer homework support.
