On Saturday July 29, we had our Sound of Music end of project concert. This project is all about giving young people an opportunity to learn one musical instrument for 12 weeks. The concert gave us an opportunity to celebrate the young people and it gave them a chance to showcase their talents in front of their parents and siblings.
Our special guest was Councillor Olu Babatola who inspired the young people with his story (how he became Greenwich first ever Mayor of African descent in 2016). He encouraged the young people to aim high and set goals for themselves. In his words, ‘You have to be in it to win it. It was indeed a proud moment for the young people and their parents. I believe these sessions improved the self-esteem and confidence of participants and enabled them to develop their horizons.
Thanks to our musicians/teachers who are so passionate about teaching young people. Looking forward to working with another set of 36 young people in 2018 by God’s grace.
